The Grado Island

The beaches of the Upper Adriatic Island, between Venice and Trieste, are certainly not the only reason to choose Grado as a destination for your holidays. The historical and landscape heritage is certainly a valid alternative but also the local gastronomy and culture are good reasons to spend days in Grado!

The old town of Grado, is all to see, is rich of monuments and tourist attractions: certainly the Campo dei Patriarchi, with the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Basilica of Sant’Eufemia, but also Piazza Biagio Marin, from which we start to discovery the city and, lastly, the remains of the ancient Basilica della Corte, in the city center.



The beach

Grado, also known as the Island of the Sun, is one of the busiest seaside resorts on the Adriatic. Considered an elite place, historically known as the Mitteleuropa beach, it is an important tourist and thermal center. Walking on the beautiful Nazario Sauro promenade that from the beach of Grado Nuova reaches the Old beach, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Karst landscape of Trieste and the Istrian coast.

The location of Grado is strategic to be able to visit the rest of the beauties of Friuli Venezia Giulia, just a few minutes from Aquileia, a UNESCO heritage site for its archaeological treasures, a few kilometers from Palmanova, a star-shaped fortress city, from Udine, the homeland of Tiepolo, from the Sacrario of Redipuglia and from the enchanting Trieste, without forgetting the food and wine routes of the Collio!

In Grado, moreover, you will be able to enjoy the spectacle of the Frecce Tricolore, or organize a day trip on the suggestive Island of Barbana, with its sanctuary, in the Lagoon of Grado.
